Remembering and Honoring Our Fathers

Filed under: Featured — colma @ 2:46 pm

We will remember and honor our Fathers this Sunday as we celebrate Father’s Day. For many of us, our Fathers have passed on but they live on in our memories. We will remember them and their love for us always. Eddie Fisher’s lyrics captures our feelings so well.

OH, MY PA-PA
Eddie Fisher

Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so wonderful
Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so good
No one could be, so gentle and so lovable
Oh, my pa-pa, he always understood.

Gone are the days when he could take me on his knee
And with a smile he’d change my tears to laughter

Oh, my pa-pa, so funny, so adorable
Always the clown so funny in his way
Oh, my pa-pa, to me he was so wonderful
Deep in my heart I miss him so today.

Not many books have been written to help the grieving son or daughter deal with the new reality of a deceased father. On Grieving the Death of a Father by Harold Ivan Smith is exceptional. Smith has combined personal stories from Frederick Buechner, Norman Vincent Peale, Corrie ten Boom, James Dobson, and many other well- known people to help others through their grieving process. On Grieving the Death of a Father by Harold Ivan Smith is available at our Good Grief Store. Eddie Fisher’s Greatest Hits includes Oh My Pa-Pa and is also available at our Good Grief Store on our website.
